Topographic maps, aerial imagery and other maps

Based on data from the National Land Survey of Finland, the topographic map shows routes, the built environment and the terrain in detail. Roads and paths, buildings and place names stand out, as do water bodies, forests, bogs, fields and bare rock. Contour lines show the shape of the terrain and the differences in elevation.

The HD topographic map is drawn at a higher resolution than the regular map, so its text, lines and other details appear sharper. It also shows more place names and other map features.

In addition, the HD version includes more comprehensive depth information for sea and lake areas, based on data from Traficom and the Finnish Environment Institute.

The hillshaded topographic map includes contour lines as well as shading, which illustrates the terrain features and elevation differences. Thanks to the shading, the map provides a more vivid picture of the terrain, making it easier to read and navigate. Hills, slopes and valleys stand out at a glance.

This high-resolution map is based on data from the National Land Survey of Finland and also includes depth information for sea and lake areas.

Detailed aerial images of the whole of Finland from the National Land Survey of Finland. Forests, clearings, young forest stands, fields, bogs, rocky outcrops, roads and the built environment stand out in the images. Aerial imagery lets you examine details of the terrain and vegetation that a drawn map does not always show.

The 3D view shows the aerial imagery in three dimensions, based on the elevation model from the National Land Survey of Finland. The map can be tilted and viewed from different angles, bringing the terrain's shapes and height differences out clearly. The view is complemented by roads and even the smallest paths from OpenStreetMap, highlighted over the aerial imagery.

The Finnish nautical chart shows sea-area depths, fairways, aids to navigation and other chart markings. The chart is based on Traficom's S-57 nautical chart data, which is kept continuously up to date.

The nautical chart is intended for viewing water areas, and it does not replace an official nautical chart or navigation system intended for navigation.

The worldwide satellite imagery offers a photographic view of the Earth's surface. You can examine details of the terrain and vegetation as well as roads, buildings, water bodies and other features of the environment. Image resolution varies by area.

The 3D view brings the terrain's shapes and differences in elevation to the satellite imagery, based on an elevation model. The map can be tilted and viewed from different angles, so mountains, valleys, slopes and other terrain features stand out clearly. Roads and paths from OpenStreetMap are highlighted over the satellite imagery.

The Outdoors map is a global map based on OpenStreetMap data, where roads, paths and other routes stand out clearly. It also shows many small paths and trails that are not always found in the data from the National Land Survey of Finland.

The map is in vector format, so it loads quickly and stays sharp at every zoom level.

Property boundaries are shown as an overlay on top of the base map of your choice. You can show the boundaries alone or together with property identifiers. With the topographic map, aerial imagery or another map, it is easy to see where the boundaries run on the ground. Property identifiers make it easy to recognise individual properties directly on the map.

The information is based on data from the National Land Survey of Finland. The overlay can also be downloaded for offline use.

Property boundaries are part of the Plus subscription, but they are also available as a separate subscription without the other Plus features.

The bilberry map shows the most likely places where bilberries grow. Good bilberry areas appear in blue, and the darker the colour, the higher the predicted yield for that area. The lingonberry map works the same way, with good areas shown in red.

The estimate draws on open data from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the National Land Survey of Finland and the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), such as information about the type of growing site and the composition, age and density of the tree stand.

The maps help you look for promising berry spots, but they do not guarantee that you will find berries when you get there. Berry yields vary from year to year according to growing-season conditions. The underlying data may also contain gaps or out-of-date information, and the reliability of the estimate can vary by area.
